Also, it's standard in the US, in the case of DSL to install inline noise filters in the telephone extensions throughout the house (all extensions except the one that goes into the modem). I am sure this has some impact on the reliability of the signals. But here it's unheard of(?). Have you guys heard any such thing. Again, it's so "standard" there that every new modem comes with a few filters in the box. If I'd like to purchase these filters here (Bangalore), does anyone know where I can get them?
